You know how when you see something that’s absolutely hilarious, you wish you could rewind it and play it over and over again? Well, now you can. Maybe not with your own real life antics, but you can with the calamities of the gang of TGS. Universal Studios Home Entertainment plans to release the second season of the Emmy award winning show 30 Rock on DVD.
The battle between TV writer Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) and corporate executive Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) rages on after Donaghy invades the 30 Rockefeller Plaza set of Lemon’s The Girl Show. To make matters worse, nutty movie star Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan) joins the team and the show is renamed TGS with Tracey Jordan. There’s also the show’s lead actress Jenna Maroney (Jane Krakowski) plagued by the fear of losing her looks to age and of course, the shows over-eager page, Kenneth Parcell (Jack McBrayer) from Georgia, who’s having a hard time adjusting to the big city. The drama doesn’t stop there. The characters’ personal lives are filled with relationship predicaments, coffee addictions and even comedic attempts at chopping down a Christmas tree. What more could you ask for? Oh, I know. A huge list of guest stars including, Carrie Fisher Rip Torn, Edie Falco and Steve Buscemi.
You can’t have your turkey without the gravy and you can’t have your television series on DVD without bonus features. This box set boasts a number of extras ranging from deleted scenes to audio commentary to a behind-the-scenes look at Tiny Fey as she prepares to host a show on her old stomping grounds, Saturday Night Live. And of course my personal favorite (and the feature I’m anticipating the most), a live performance by the 30 Rock cast at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City.
You can own it all when the DVD hits stores on October 7th for $39.98. But before you buy, a word to the wise – the rewind and play buttons should be used in moderation. Ah, what the heck. Watch the funny parts as many times as you want!
