It's Almost Time To Release The Kraken On DVD And Blu-Ray
Will you invite the Kraken to come over and play when Warner Home Video releases Clash of the Titans on DVD and Blu-ray? Considering Clash of the Titans 2 was just given a February 2011 tentative start date, it might be a good investment.
Clash stars Sam Worthington as Perseus, a man born of the gods but raised on Earth. After losing his adopted family to the wrath of Hades (Ralph Fiennes), Perseus agrees to lead a team through various lands packed with strange creatures and monsters in order to take down the god of the underworld and thwart his plan to unleash evils upon mankind and then steal control of the heavens from Zeus (Liam Neeson).
At this point you don’t need me to tell you that Clash of the Titans was a critical flop and set the standard for 3D garbage, but something inside me actually wants to give this one another chance. Of course, this is likely due to the fact that a sequel is inevitable, and I’d rather not be dreading the day it hits theaters, but also because I’m hoping there’s something good I missed buried under the post-production conversion scar tissue.
The DVD will run you $28.98, but it only comes with the film and some additional scenes. At least if you drop $35.99 on the BD, you’ll be getting your money’s worth in terms of special features. That version comes with those additional scenes, as well as Maximum Move Mode with enhanced scene breakdowns, VFX breakdowns, on-the-spot vignettes, close-ups of the monsters, stunt work, filming locations, and more, as well as the featurette “Sam Worthington -- An Action Hero for the Ages” and an alternate ending.
What? No 3D version of the film? Here’s a gigantic, sarcasm-infused AWWW.
