Sweeney Todd Will Shave On Blu-Ray

Blu-ray is turning red, blood red that is. Paramount Home Entertainment is releasing Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street on Blu-ray October 21st.
Who can forget the infamous story of Benjamin Barker (Johnny Depp)? After years of exile, Barker returns home with the new identity of Sweeney Todd and opens a barbershop above Mrs. Lovett’s Meat Pie Shop. Pleasing his costumers is the least of Mr. T’s worries. He is out to rid London of its corrupt nobility and those that have wronged him in his past life, specifically, Judge Turpin (Alan Rickman), the man who robbed him of his family. With every kill his desire for revenge only grows stronger. Of course, Mrs. Lovett (Helena Bonham Carter) has no problem with this. With every barbershop kill comes more meat for her oddly successful shop boasting the “worst pie in London.” When you have a director like Tim Burton, you can only imagine the darkness and gore surrounding Sweeney Todd’s murderous rampage. The Golden Globe winning film will be accompanied by “blood-pumping special features,” which include a look at the history of the musical as well as the making of the theatrical release. Normally I’m stubborn and choose not to spend the extra few bucks for the Blu-ray version of a film, but Sweeney Todd is a different case. I was memorized by the ominous and darkly set scenes combined with the noticeably bright red blood in theaters, so I’m rather curious to see how this image can be even further enhanced on Blu-ray.
