Electronic Arts announced today that Fight Night Round 4 will be making its way to PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2009. To start off the hype season on a high note, they also let us know Mike Tyson's going to be in the game.
This will be Iron Mike's first foray into video games since the Nintendo classic Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! (I'm politely ignoring Mike Tyson Heavyweight Boxing for Xbox and PS2...ugh). After 1990, he wasn't even in that game anymore; he was replaced by a generic white dude named "Mr. Dream" after Nintendo's contract expired with Tyson. He'll be one of many classic boxers featured in the game, including Lennox Lewis (whose children Tyson said he wanted to eat) and Evander Holyfield (whose ear Tyson ate). No King Hippo, though (damn).
It's been a couple years since the last installment of Fight Night and the developers are promising an all-new game engine that will allow for a larger variety of boxing styles and smoother animations. It's being developed by EA Canada and hopefully the folks there have the good sense to bring Tyson in for some voice work. Pretty much anything that comes out of that guy's mouth is pure gold. Example quote: "I can sell out Madison Square Garden masturbating." Hell, I'd still be playing Pitfall if he did the voice of Harry.
