Halo 3: Blackout Is The Final Legendary Map

By Steve West: 2008-03-26 20:29:46

Halo 3: Blackout Is The Final Legendary Map Bungie’s final Legendary map has been revealed. Normally this wouldn’t be a huge deal, except to say that a new Map Pack is on the way for the die-hard Halo fans. But this is “Blackout,” a direct remake of that classic bastion of death dealing mayhem, “Lockout.” Until “Sanctuary” came along that was my favorite map in Halo 2.

While other remakes like “Wizard/Warlock” and “Avalanche” see some significant design tweaks, this time around the team stayed as faithful as possible to the original. Little issues like equipment, and the assault rifle may make the map play a little different. But as long as the shortcut jumps that allow you to get around and secure the quadrants around the map are still there, then we’ve got nothing to worry about.

Now that the Heroic Map Pack is free to download on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, fans are looking to April 15th when the Legendary Map Pack will be available for $10. Look for the pack to go free in about July, if the past has taught us anything.

As a Mlg Player, and Halo 3 fan. I would have to say that this map will provide a very high amount of coverage, support, and overall greatness. I think this is just the right kind of thing that the H3 community needs at this time.

i think bungie did not do to well on making lockout for halo 3. there are flaws in blackout that make it not as good as lockout in halo 2. for example, snipe 2 there is no railing looking out towards elbow, you can jump from BR 1 to BR two using the little elevator thing where the gernades spawn, the railing going aroung top mid is to high off the ground and you can jump from that to the sniper when in halo two you had to jump to the ramp leading to the sniper, there is no cover going up elbow anymore, library is nothing without its window so that should not be covered up. BR 1 has no railing looking into bottom mid. and also snipe 1 is just horrible. it is to big and when you go in from snipe two down the ramp you have to take a right to see down to BR 1. So i think that it was a good idea but some things need to be changed.
