Wii Shall Rock

By Pete Haas: 2008-03-24 16:06:22

Wii Shall Rock A casual-friendly game with innovative peripherals meets a casual-friendly console with innovative peripherals and the two make sweet, sweet love together. Harmonix announced today that Rock Band will be coming to the Wii on June 22nd.

The Wii bundle will cost $169.99 and individual peripherals will be available for purchase on the same day the game is released. Rock Band for Wii will feature the same 58 songs that came with the other consoles' versions, plus five new bonus songs. On the downside, the Wii port won't offer downloadable songs or online play.

"The Wii's success among casual and core gamers of all ages makes it an ideal match for the cross-generational appeal of the music featured in Rock Band," said Bob Picunko, VP of Electronic Games and Interactive Products at MTV. Did anyone really doubt this game would hit the Wii eventually? Rock Band and the Wii both appeal to the group of gamers who enjoy jumping around their living rooms like jackasses with their friends so it's a natural fit.
