Band’s Volume Breaks Record Plant

Either because they really deserve their fan-given title of “loudest band in New York,” or because they only had the worst mixer in New York, the creatively named A Place To Bury Strangers reportedly caused a record plant to malfunction when they went to have a 10-inch vinyl single pressed.
According to NME, a spokesman for the pressing plant said the master tape’s red levels – red indicates too-high sound volume – caused the plant to malfunction. The whole plant. What exactly is meant by “malfunction” is not clearly stated, and how big this plant is has not been made clear either, but when a story like this comes out about your band’s single, it’s probably less an indication that you are awesome, and more an indication that you messed something up somewhere. Details of this story are scarce online, so I don’t have anything else to go on, but it sounds like somebody’s breaking the rule of function over form. Dude, like, if your tape’s recorded too loud, it will, like, sound bad.
