Backspin
Self-described “Brechtian Punk Caberet” duo Dresdon Dolls resuscitated a semi-conscious underground music scene back in 2003, reincarnating classic theatrical themes into live concerts - white face powder, top hats and ripped tights included. Since their self-titled debut, singer/keyboardist Amanda Palmer and drummer Brian Viglione have toured, written and recorded, separately and together, non-stop all the while rounding up a heavily devout audience that isn’t getting any smaller. Off the heels of a brief hiatus, the Boston-based pair is back with this, the answer to 2006 original LP, Yes, Virgina. A collection of b-sides and rarities, No, Virginia is the second compilation for the band and will include outtakes from recording sessions dating back to 2003.

Pitch Patrol
I never got swept up into the black hole that most diehard Dresdon Doll fans seem to have sucked themselves into, but my respect for Palmer and Viglione’s creativity knows little bounds. Maybe because I caught them live before hearing their CD – or hearing of them entirely – but I would highly recommend catching one of their stops on tour, for their studio recordings do little justice to the energy these two put into their work. Think Vaudeville meets Goth opera.
