A few hundred movie buffs received the shock of a lifetime earlier this week when Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder showed up to an Into The Wild screening and played an entire solo set. Tickets were being offered for a mere five dollars and approximately one hundred and fifty fans latched on to the bait. All seem to have been pleased by the impromptu jam session, except for that one friend who decided not to go at the last minute because “films about climbing are gay.” Gay indeed.
According to Billboard, the mumbly-mouthed crooner forked some solo material into a Kitchen Aide, added some Pearl Jam, and sprinkled in a few covers to concoct a saucy little batter of auditory deliciousness. “I Won’t Back Down” and “Forever Young” were among the tracks chosen, crisply carrying on the youthful and courageous theme. Vedder is set to embark on a lengthy solo tour April 2nd. Tickets are still available to gigs all across the country.
