Orlando Bloom may make one of his next movies the sequel to Superman Returns. Don’t worry he’s not replacing Brandon Routh, and he won’t be wearing red and blue tights.
The story comes from the celeb site Just Jared. No I don’t read Just Jared. Bad enough we report Celebrity news in our Celeb section, I’m not going to go out of my way to wade through more of it. But luckily one of our staff members does (seriously dude, get a life).
JJ reports that Orlando was spotted talking Superman Returns 2 with director Bryan Singer and producers Mindy and Jon Peters. What they don’t know is what role he’ll play in the film. They suggest him as a new love interest for Lois Lane, but that seems like the suggestion of a person who hasn’t actually seen Superman Returns. That just wouldn’t make any damn sense.
To me, it’s more likely that if he's in it at all (and right now there's no proof of that) he’d end up playing some new villain. There have already been rumors that Lex Luthor will be left completely out of the movie, and that means they’ll be looking for another bad guy. Orlando Bloom as Zod? I have a hard time picturing that, but I could see him as someone like Brainiac. That could work.
