Last week the first fuzzy pictures of Heath Ledger as the Joker in The Dark Knight leaked out onto the web. But really, it was impossible to see anything in them. They looked like someone smeared Vaseline on their camera lens before taking them.
Luckily, the guys over at AICN have scored the first clear picture of Ledger in full Joker costume. They’re pretty sure the picture is real, and it does fit with some of the scooper descriptions of his getup we’ve seen from other sites. I’m not sure how I feel about the drowned rat look, but a toned down (and possibly boring) version of the character is probably what we all should have expected from Christopher Nolan. I wonder if he’ll even laugh? Ah well.

UPDATE!As everyone except the site that originally posted the pics suspected, the Ledger as Joker pics have turned out to be fake. A fanboy with too much time on his hands and a bedroom in his parents' basement has taken responsibility for them over at Sueprherohype, and admitted to making the whole thing up. Thank AICN for helping him get his jollies.

Hmmm, ill be honest, that doesnt quite look like Heath Ledger... it looks close but it looks more like someone who LOOKS like Heath Ledger dressed up as the Joker, based on the look that the studio announced... Im not biting, that aint him.
Well, I was right, sort of... I knew this was a fake and I didnt think it was Heath Ledger... turns out is it a photoshopped picture of Heath, so I was wrong there... funny thing is im in college and taking photoshop right now and I realize that this was very well done, this guy had a lot of talent... cool... I just wish we could see the "real" Joker now...
i like how some people try be smart about this and say things like "it doesn't quite look like heath ledger" or "fake" when it is a pic of heath ledger but doctored and everyone already knows its fake retard

Okay, speaking as the largest Batman fan alive(not physically, my brother loves Batman and is so much fatter than me) but I've loved the Dark Knight since birth. And personally, every picture I've seen "released" of Ledger as Joker have all particularly ticked me off. As an insanely hardcore Batman fan, I have appreciated the character of the Joker as the most complex and thrilling comic villian ever. I love the Joker. But to be honest, the most thrilling image of the clown prince of crime has been the fake poster released. The dark, evil grin sent chills through me. I mean, it was pure, comically insane, evil. Just the way Bill Finger drew it, as inspired by Conrad Veidt's L'homme qui rit, or the Man Who Laughs. But the lame scars and grunged half-way enthused make-up are dissapointing. This one in particular. Hope Nolan does not screw this up for me, considering its one of the few movies being released anymore that actually seem interesting.
