Alvin And The Chipmunks Movie

By Josh Tyler: 2007-01-25 01:20:33
Alvin And The Chipmunks Movie Everything that was 80s is new again. This year well have Transformers and the computer animated Ninja Turtles movie, in 2008 it may be Magnum P.I. and a live action/CGI version of Alvin and the Chipmunks. I think Im going to miss 2007.

Yep, those annoying, singing little falsetto bastards from the cartoons are coming in movie form. Alvin, Simon, Theodore and that creepy dude who acts like their dad but clearly isnt (come on, theyre different species) are headed to theaters and theyve found the perfect guy to direct them. Tim Hill, the director of Garfield 2 and Max Keebles Big Movie. He knows a thing or two about making crappy movies out of cartoon characters nobody cares about anymore and so Fox is talking to him about helming their Chipmunk pic.

The reason theyre calling it a live action, CGI mix is that theyre planning to make Alvin, Simon, and Theodore computer generated characters wandering around in the real world. Basically exactly what they did so spectacularly unsuccessfully on the Garfield movies. But at least Garfield is a cat. I mean, cats actually exist in reality. Plunking Garfield down in reality doesnt take much of a leap of faith. Giant talking chipmunks who wear clothes and perform at rock concerts do not. How is that going to work? It wont, and even if it could they arent going to hire the kind of people who will make it work. Instead Fox is hiring the guy who made Garfield 2. Theyve already given up.

Alright, maybe Im being kind of harsh. Alvin and the Chipmunks was kind of awesome when I was five. But arent modern kids way past that sort of entertainment? They want movies about people battling each other with decks of cards, not singing rats. I just dont see the point in making this and worse if they do, there will almost certainly be a spin-off movie or sequel featuring the Chipettes. Were in for at least two terrible movies here folks, not just one.

  • wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i loved that show but i never seen it so i dont no how funny or how boring or how crazy it is so i just want to see it please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Ok i won't call the film the greatest ever, but it does really worth to watch and to buy on DVD.... I'm definetly gonna get it!! And I just can't wait to see the sequel featuring the chipettes.... In the film the storyline was really interesting, the animation was great and the song........ OH I LOVE IT!!! "Witch Doctor" and "Bad day" 5 star actually!!The only slight thing that doesn't fits in the film is Jason Lee as Dave.

But hey.... Creators experimented with an idea cause it's hard to come up with something new :-( Even Walt Disney has fallen a bit. Ok a lot actually but their not giving up and same with Bagdasarian Productions. Ross and Janice are trying to keep the chipmunks still alive. Traditional animation is slowly fading away so they tried an up to date technic to keep them popular. And i completely agree with them.... There's more way to skin a cat! And i think their experiment is successfull. They are still alive after about 50 years and they gonna stay alive for longer (hopefully) The sequel featuring the chipettes is a great idea. So i'm hoping to see them more in the future
  • HEY! ive seen it three times and ill never get tired of seeing it.they are so CUTE!!!
  • Of those people who say the film sucks your wrong. The alvin and the chipmunks movie has a few parts unagreeable but to tell you the truth its not just a kiddie movie. The movie in the whole picture was good and it did get eleventh place on gross. Yes they are planning a sequel and yes there will probably be the Chippetes. I know because there was a brief talk about it. Here is the talk (some of it a little unpleasing):

“There has been a lot of talk about it,” revealed Janice Karman, one of the film’s producers. “A lot of people have been asking about the little girls.”

For those unfamiliar with the various incarnations of Dave Seville and his squeaky-voiced sidekicks, the Chipettes are a group of female chipmunks named Brittany, Jeanette and Eleanor, who were first introduced to audiences in the early Eighties. Now, as the team behind “Alvin” begin planning the sequel, their thoughts keep returning to the little girlfriends that were voiced by Karman.

“We’re hoping that there are all sorts of new things going on; we loved doing this movie, and we love the new look of it,” agreed Ross Bagdasarian, Jr., son of the legendary Chipmunk creator and producer on the movies. “We just want to take the chipmunks where no other chipmunk has ever gone before.”

“I have a big crush on all of them,” insisted “Simon” voice Matthew Gray Gubler. “I want to see them naked…I’d pay to see that.”

“I would very much like to see that,” laughed Justin “Alvin” Long. “They’re hot. What are you going to do?”

Justin Long (alvins voice): “I’ve got a great tagline, by the way, for the Chipettes movie if they do come out in the sequel,” he grinned. “It’s ‘This spring, the Chipmunks get vaginas.’”

Well obviously some people think it will be rated R and you know I think thats not true. This movie like the last will certainly be a family movie. I think that the actors were just messing around.
  • i think your movie is great and that it is a great influence to childen ,adults and todlers ,and infants.great job guys keep up the good work.i love ya.peace
  • i hate this movie it sucks
  • i loved the movie!and who ever wrote the first one was totaly wrong.not all people think that.I LOVED THE MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Hey man i love Alvin he is so funny you should be a little nicer.
(P.s. When does this come out on DVD?)
  • Hey! the movie is great! It takes me back to when i was a kid. Dude you need to lighten up!
  • Whoever wrote the first letter is wrong because my mother,my (17 year old)brother and I went to go see it and it was awsome. My brother even liked it,and the only reason it's CGI is because regular chipmunks are to hard to train. The guy that wrote the first letter is wrong also because chipmunks are real they just don't talk or sing.So if you think that this movie is terrible just keep it to yourself because someone like me might do the same thing I just did.
  • I understand why people assume the movie is going to be a flop, but it all depends on the kind of things you are into. I personally am a blood, guts and gore kind of person, but I grew up with the chipmunks and therefore respect this movie and it's intentions. It really relates to those who are it's fans and are good for younger children, although they may not understand some of the humor. I really enjoyed the movie and I feel that it truely did justice to the animated versions.
  • I totally disagree, my daughter and her friends adore the idea of that movie and they are teenagers, I think the movie will be good, by the way I am taking my daughter and all of her friends to go watch it, they have seen the movie trailers and really love it you might be wrong about this one
  • I am actually looking forward to seeing Alvin & The Chipmunks Movie. I used to watch these guys all the time. The novel is coming out on Tuesday & I'm getting it. I will be at the theaters when this movie comes out.
  • Listen, considering the director is the same one affiliated with such horrible fare as Garfield 2 and Max Keebles crap, i'm not expecting much from Alvin and the Chipmunks. However, i must admit getting slightly a buzz with that nostalgic feeling upon seeing the big ol billboard poster cutouts of the "munks" advertising the upcoming movie at the theater after leaving The Transformers movie a couple weeks ago. And in the current market where shows like High School Musical and Hairspray are big money releases why not some singing, dancing, mischevious, animated "munks". We'll see.
  • ok, you know what, i was five and i loved these guys. its really cute to watch these guys comin back. even though i just saw the Chipmunk adventure for the first time in five years, it was cute to look back and make fun of myself. and i for one am not liking the whole shooting and killing thing. it creeps me out.
  • Well you was harsh but thats your opinion though. What you are saying is true. Yes this was already done with Garfield 2 times and it failed. BUT it could appeal to younger kids say ages around 2-10.Older Kids today are more interested in movies with fighting, shooting, killing, or more in a fantasy world like Harry Potter. This movie could work out. I guess. I really have high hopes for this movie because I am a fan of the Chipmunks and espeically the Chipettes. REMEMBER dont judge a book by its cover. And then again the movie can flop. But hey gotta give it a chance first.
