In an announcement perfectly timed to coincide with Black History Month, Brittany Snow is going to reprise the Jamie Lee Curtis role in the remake-no-one-asked-for Prom Night. Snow was one of the high school girls in John Tucker Must Die, I'm not sure which one, but it doesn't matter too much. The point is, she has experience as a college aged beauty playing a high school aged beauty. And that's the kind of experience you just can't teach.
Variety says that long time TV drama director Nelson McCormick ("NYPD Blue," "West Wing," "ER") will helm his first feature film. I guess money and fame will cause people to take on work that clearly is way beneath them. Neal Moritz will produce and he has experience with teeny-bopper slasher flicks like Urban Legend and along with "go fast" movies like The Fast and the Furious and Torque.
For those of you who don't remember the original Prom Night, it was released in 1980 and featured Jamie Lee Curtis in full scream queen mode. Four young kids are responsible for the death of a child and make a pact never to reveal their evil deed. However, on their prom night, some crazy who knows their secret turns them into the police and collects a nice reward, which he invests in T-bills. Or, he grabs his axe and starts a-choppin'. Look for this to do poorly in theaters in 2008.
