I wasn’t blown away by George Clooney’s directorial debut Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, but it showed promise. Promise he delivered on with his completely fantastic second directing gig, Good Night, and Good Luck. So it’s good news that George isn’t wasting much time before directing again. He’s already at work on Leatherheads due for 2008 and Variety says he’s lined up another called The Belmont Boys.
In between directing Leatherheads and Belmont Boys George will wisely continue to stay far far away from Batman and will star in a James Elroy adaptation called White Jazz.
For White Jazz he’ll play a dirty LAPD vice squad lieutenant framed for murder by his bad guy bosses. Belmont Boys is also a crime movie, but about seven thieves who meet at the horse track and pull off a big job. 30 years later they get back together and finish it. Sounds kind of like a geriatric Ocean’s 12.
