I didn't realize until recently that The Hollywood Reporter publishes weekly lists of the latest MPAA ratings, from movies that seem destined to head straight to DVD to some of the biggest upcoming releases. It's fascinating, if you're into this stuff in a geeky way like I am, guessing based on the titles what they'll be rated (Hotel for Dogs is PG! Blood Wars is R!) and secretly cursing the MPAA when they make a bad call.
The rating you probably care about most today is Fanboys, the perpetually troubled comedy-drama about Star Wars fans trekking to see The Phantom Menace at Skywalker Ranch. Unsurprisingly, the movie about teenage friendship has been rated PG-13, meaning all the adolescent Star Wars fans bound to love this movie the most will be able to see it in theaters. So, even if no one really expects the movie to be released at this point, at least it's gotten the rating we expected. Now you can go back to your regularly scheduled handwringing over Fanboys.
