Pics of the robots from Transformers are flooding the internet now, and it looks like Paramount has finally given up on trying to stop it. Early this morning AICN posted the first pics anyone has seen of Megatron. They were forced to pull them down (for non-Paramount related reasons) and then every shady movie site and blog on the internet promptly posted them and claimed the scoop as their own.
But, since AICN can't carry them we will. I'm posted everything there is on Megatron, who incidentally, looks rather horrible. I realize that it makes no sense for him to be a gun, and I'm fine with that. But does he need to look like a Predator? It looks like Michael Bay is playing the alien angle for all it's worth. As a disguise, his robot form isn't a very good one is it? Even in jet form, he looks kind of like a Shrike threw up all over the sky. And why would Megatron need teeth? What does he eat? Does recharge his power cells by ingesting babies?

1. First reaction should be something along the lines of , "Wow, its SUPERmegatron!" If you hadn't mentioned it in the context of the movie, someone probably would have confused it with a poorly rendered Robotech design from the 80s. You can be loyal to the original concept AND modernize it or improve upon it with technology. Classic example...original Enterprise vs. Next Generation Enterprise...Original Klingons vs. Next Generation Klingons...OK, ok its geeky I know, but it gets the point across.
2. Design-wise this initial concept is heavily flawed visually, and the jet is not impressive. Simplicity needs complexity and vice-versa. I am afraid that someone may be too in love with the "CGI-moving-parts software" over at ILM and it is hamstringing the look.
3. It isn't scary and it isn't tough. Metallic-organic is a hard concept to pull off, and this failed. Here are some concepts it looks like but is inferior to:

If Megatron being a P36 Walther in alt mode doesn't make any sense considering the sizing factor, then why not design Meg as a howitzer or some big turret gun instead of this freak... it's a also a gun and a big gun at that...not good... not good. Hope these guys still have time to redesign it or at least make it a bit closer to the original G1 model.
Ok seriously what the HELL happend this is not megatron this THING IS A FREAK and i for one think the other pics are just the same. Prime looks retro in a bad way he is a wise commander not some speed demon and megatron has to have some measure of coolness not "oh who invited the trick or treater"!!!!!!!
that looks like the alien form of megatron b4 he take his earth form n he turns into a bomber jet bcuz da director felt its like darth vader turning n2 a lightsaber.
Why is everyone gacking out about Megatrom being a jet? He looks sick that way. It does his character justice finally. At least hes not a tank anymore.
And come on! A gun? A walther of all guns! The original designers were stoned on that one.

He was useless that way and the new Megatron is gonna kick some ass!
This megaton is so stupid looking, his face looks like a a bunch of crushed up tinfoil. As for the body, it looks like a pile of junk. What a shitty design. The movie sucks too, my childhood memories were raped.
You know, for continuity sake it makes sense. When he crashed on earth there was no technology, so nothing to mimic. After he thawed out he went straight to fighting. So it would make sense that he kept his alien form from before coming to earth, now lets see if he stays in that form in the sequel.
