After Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, audiences demanded more adventures from Jack Sparrow and his crew. Disney happily obliged, mounting two back to back sequels. At the outset, the filmmakers perhaps underestimated the commitment.
"It was exhausting, but I think it's a bit more of a duration issue," says director Gore Verbinski. "It's a bit mad to take on two movies at once [but] there are still a lot of stories to be told with these characters. I didn't feel that way with The Ring. I didn't know where to go with it when they talked to me about doing that. And Pirates, there was no plan on making a 2nd or 3rd movie when we filmed the first one and then the studio said, 'Could you do two more?' And that was sort of challenging to construct a trilogy in reverse so to speak. That was exciting"
Shooting the two sequels back to back required a commitment that is not yet completed, with 70 more days of shooting left on Pirates 3. Lord of the Rings veteran Orlando Bloom is used to it by now.
"It's a real ensemble movie so it's not like I'm on the whole time," Bloom says. "But it was a challenge because you've got the arc of two movies to cover. You can shoot a scene from the second movie in the morning and the third movie in the afternoon and trying to remember where
your character is emotionally or whatever at that point in the movie can be a bit more challenging. You just have to play the truth of the moment and thankfully we got great writers to create great stories and characters and develop it so it's not just one note."
It also keeps the cast locked together. "You're never going to get this cast and the writers and everybody back together again," said Verbinski. "Once you have had to negotiate everyone's deal and get everybody to commit, it's much better to make two. If we'd just made the second movie and then three years down the road tried to get everyone back together I think it would have been a different thing."
Johnny Depp returns as Jack Sparrow without the controversy he faced on the first film. Studio executives debated him on the very number of gold teeth he would wear. With the character an established icon, Depp had total freedom on Dead Man's Chest, though he can't say if he took advantage of that.
"I was just sort of doing what I do," Depp says. "All the sort of things that are happening in the world or in your world, immediately sort of affect the way that you approach your day and all of that, and that can't help but sort of seep into the work, I guess. It probably made it a little easier that I wasn't getting the phone calls, the panicked, worried phone calls like, 'What the hell are you doing? You're ruining the movie!' I didn't get those this time. That might have helped to add a little bit of spring, but I don't know because I haven't seen the spring. I haven't seen the film so I don't know. I'm scared to see it."
Don't worry, it's not free for all acting. Verbinski helps Depp keep Captain Jack within some boundaries. "We have lots of discussions about when is too much too much," says the director. "We go for it and then in the edit room, we kind of go, 'O.K., that's one too… We're getting ridiculous here.' We like to go back to ridiculous, but we like to keep it absurd and always have a little bit of tension. The thing about Jack's character is that there is an honest streak. And I think that's what we always keep coming back to. Jack thinks he's a bad boy, but he would love to not be as kind of good as he really is. So, the myth is out in front of him, but the truth is he's a pretty honest guy. He just hates that about himself."
He's also the source of comedy in the Pirates films. "Oh boy, that's the key," said Depp. "How do you keep it fresh? How do you keep it working? For me, there's a real fine art to the timing that I'm still working on because you go back and watch guys like Chaplin and Keaton or even in the dramatic roles, Lon Chaney, the timing, especially in those silent films is just astonishing. But also in today's cinema, timing can be helped or hindered by editing. So I don't know. I just sort of do my best."
On the fringes of Captain Jack's adventure, Will Turner and Elizabeth Swan are back trying to consummate their relationship. With their wedding interrupted because of their dealings with Jack, they are on a far more personal quest to catch up with him again.
"Elizabeth and Will, their love was sort of infantile in the first movie," says Verbinski. "It was very cute and pure and they are growing up. In looking at where we are going to end up in the third movie, I think the second movie is where they have to deal with real issues of love. I think in the first movie it was more storybook love. It was sort of, 'Oh, isn't that cute.' It hits all the traditional buttons, but it doesn't take you anywhere, because it's not that complicated. In the second movie, we are dealing with real life. You deal with jealousy, you deal with how they are going to end up. For them to survive, it's an interesting parallel which gets more elaborated in the third film which is the love story of Davey Jones and why did he pull out his heart? And how that relates to the love story of Elizabeth and Will. I mean, are they same path and are they going to pull out of that nosedive and what's going to happen? It's just important that the love story became more complicated. A marriage has to survive. It doesn't exist in that storybook world."
It requires Will to be more of a man of action. "He goes from being a straight-laced kind of upright stick in the mud to becoming more of a bit of a pirate in this one, thankfully," said Bloom. "It was kind of like discovering my inner pirate for the first time in a way."
Despite the additional peril this journey puts his character in, Bloom never felt unsafe. "Danger isn't the right word because it's a set. It's a controlled environment. It's fun. It's hard. Running backwards on top of a wheel was really difficult as it's rolling down a hill, but no danger."
Captain Jack actually changes the least. Perhaps he's the anchor to the story, pun intended. "It's a really tricky one with Captain Jack, because I don't think he's the kind of character that you want to give a tremendous arc to," say Verbinski. "He succeeds. He's such a piece of garlic in the soup that you need seven straight men against him. He can't just rub against one. He needs to rub against a series of archetypes and a series of plot constructs. You have to somewhat make the movie without him and then put him in. Because if you just made the Johnny Depp movie it's just too much of one flavor. You need some kind of broth to put it into."
For Depp though, there was a slight growth. "Basically he's the same guy," Depp says. "There's a purity to the character. We've seen him panic, we've seen him on the run but this is the first time we've really seen him in mortal fear, really afraid for his life. Once Davy Jones says, 'Time's up, you've got to pay up,' there's real panic there and he knows the clock is ticking so that's what I was trying to do.'
Ultimately, the success of the original Pirates of the Caribbean set up impossible expectations for the sequel. "I think they are just impossible to manage," says Verbinski. "I think we have a lot of fun on this film and I think we are going to approach it as a fantastic ride and the characters are evolving and the story is evolving. I think hyped films always get blown way bigger, so at some point expectations are always going to be hard to deal with. I just think I'm not going to try to live up to those expectations, I'm going to try to live up to mine as I make the movie. And these are the films that I would like and these are the films I enjoy and these are the films that surprise me, because expectations are expectations. I don't think audiences want what they want; I think they want what they haven't imagined yet. I don't make shoes. I'm not trying to make something comfortable. I'm trying to make something that takes you to a different place, that isn't what you'd expect. I don't think people will be disappointed."
From the actors' perspective, topping the original is no cause for concern. "What's great about this film is that they did top it," says Bloom. "How do you top pirates going skeletal in the moonlight and coming out. That's a hard thing to do. But I think the mythology of Davy Jones and the ocean, that tops it. Johnny Depp's entrance, how do you top a ship that sinks down and then he steps onto the dock? How do you top that? It's really hilarious the way he enters this movie. It's brilliant. It tops it in a different way. You can expect more as well."
Some of those comic situations end up pretty messy. Depp had to give his first slime covered performance in the film's climactic gag. "You can still focus, but when they dump kind of a large amount of an incredibly foreign substance in your face, and you don't know what to
expect until it hits you, you don't really rehearse that kind of thing," says Depp. "So there is a part of you going, 'God, I hope that this doesn't shoot up my nostrils or down my throat or you just inhale the stuff and drown in slime on film.' So that was little bit of a concern."

Ok, the pirates of the carribean 1 & 2 are both starring the hottest man alive who does the jack sparrow character quite well! The movies are the best movies ever made, hands down oh yea and, JOHNNY DEPP IS SO HOTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well lets face it we go and see the movie just for JACK! this movie there was not enough jack, and to much Will. Also i dis like how they toned him down unitll you caught him yelling
"i gotta a jar of dirrrrt, i gotta a jar of dirrrt, guess whats in it?!"
4 stars
Very awesome
worth seeing.
What a love triangle!!! I was really confused about Elizabeths feelings for Jack...whats going on there?? He's always flirting with her but this time she kinda dared him to do something about it. AND, the compass pointed to him on the beach when they were looking for the chest.....hrmmmm. So is Jack what she truly wants?.., then ofcourse she kissed him and leaves him for dead....will sees and then you are left wondering what (A) Elizabeth really feels about Will now that Jack is dead and (B) what Will is going to do after he sees Elizabeth kissing Jack. I guess we'll find out in Number 3.....I hope she stays with Wil though. They are better suited.
I loved the curse of the black pearl and I found it more humorous. Depp's sarcasm was a little more toned down in part two which was just a tad disappointing but overall I was very entertained and the story was awesome. everyone says they don't get the end but I have a hunch about what happened and what will happen in the next movie. Elizabeth was acting strange towards the end of pirates part two. do you recall when captain Barbosa became an imposter for Jack in the first movie? Put the two together and you will figure it out. The real Elizabeth would not have came on to Jack that way which is such a betrayal to Will and also she would not have tied Jack up in schackles just to let him be eaten alive by the cracken.
Barbosa gives me the creeps more than Davey Jones does because he is the most invincible out of the two and in a battle between them, Barbosa would kick...
It will be interesting to see the secrets unravel in part three...
Pirates of The Caribbean is by fat the Best movies ever made! There is something strange going on here I do agree with all of you, the Love triangle between Jack, Will and Elizabeth is stange but I love it. Do you all think maybe she truly loves Jack? Maybe she locked him up on the ship to rid herself of loving him if he was gone she wouldnt be forced to make a decision about the man she wants to spend her future with? all I can say is teh have never given jack a love intrest in any of the movies and every leading man needs a leding lady, maybe thast why, maybe its meant to be elizabeth. I think that would be awsome, after all JAck did rescue her from dying when she fell off the cliff in the firts movie. and the way she was acting at the end of the movie like she was heat broken jack was gone, I truly felt a connection between Jack and Elizabeth, I hope I am correct if I am the last movie will be the quest for the ultimate reward for Jack Love and thants what he deserves. Not too sure where this leaves will but he is on a new conquest to save the soul of his father maybe that is what consumes his heart in the end.?
and not the love for elizabeth but the love for his father?
I think that is a good observation..her clamping Jack to the Pearl, all the while saying she didn't regret it...as that was what she was trying to convince herself. The compass DID keep pointing to Jack..so I definitely feel she is torn, and hate that we have to wait a year to see where they are going with it. Love, love, love that Barbosa is back.
And exactly when did Babosa pose as Jack in the first movie...not recalling that at all....
the only reason why i went and saw the movie....4 TIMES with in 3 days is because of JOHNNY DEPP!!!!!! he is the sexiest guy alive!!! and i would do anything thing to meet him!! i cant WAIT till the third movie comes out!!!
i think pirates of the caribeen two was an excellent movie! I had a feeling in this movie that things would change between Will and Elizabeth...but its alot better i think with Jack and Elizabeth, and did u see him tell her about the compass, "This compass will always point to what you truly want and desire the most" and the compass DID keep on pointing to Jack...so is that what Elizabeth truly wants? Is it Captain Jack Sparrow that she truly loves...not Will Turner?
and funnily enough, everytime Jack had the compass, it pointed to Elizabeth! Even when they were finding the chest...she was sitting on it!but it pointed to her!
So i think the real secret love is between Jack and Elizabeth...not Will and Elizabeth. But i think Elizabeth truly loves Jack and they should be together! I think that Elizabeth's nature and Jack's personality are better suited in a weird way...instead of old Will and Elizabeth the whole time!!!
But when she kisses him she locks him on the ship to die...i think that was part of her escape because she knew deep down she truly loved Jack and not Will.
In the next one i really hope there is more romance between Captain Jack and Elizabeth as u can tell he wants her!
overall i loved the movie and cannot wait for the 3rd one and i would do anything to get Johnny Depp back on the screen...and i actually hope they make a fourth one,,,and maybe a fifth, and a sixth,7th,8th,9th,10th POTC! i can seriously not get enough of the movies but i really want some more action and romance between Jack and Elizabeth!!!
I thought Dead Man's Chest was amazing! There were parts which confused me but now I understand them. There were endless times where I laughed 'til I fell off my seat, and there was a time when I almost cried. I think it is sad that Jack did what he did, but I also know that he is definitely going to be back in the third. I had no idea that Barbossa would come back either! I thought he was dead because when he was shot in Curse Of The Black Pearl he bled, but then at the end of the credits the monkey turns back to a skeleton, so it is still quite confusing. All in all, I'd say Pirates Of The Caribbean:Dead Man's Chest is a must see movie! And just like the first, I'd be able to watch it again and again! Johnny Depp was once again amazing pulling off his character as Captain Jack Sparrow, as was everyone else good at portraying their characters. I can't wait for the third!
i really love both teh 1st and 2nd movies and i cant wait till the 3rd!!!!!! but i still think its really weird that e/o loves Jack sparrow more than WIll turner. i mean, look at him!!!!! HE'S S0OOOOOOOOO WAYYYYYYYY HOTTER!!!!!!!!!! I LOVED the scence where they ripped off his shirt!! and about the whole love triangle thing. i dont think jack and elizabeth shood end up 2gethr or will end up 2gethr. that wood totly ruin it. WILL and elizabeth r sooo cute 2gethr. altho i am a bit confuzed about teh connection between tehm too. o well. WILL TURNER ROX!
I havent seen it yet so idk what happens and i'm soo tired of peole sayin what happens cuz some people havent seen it so please wil u guyz stop!!! Thanx!!jOHNNY DEPP IS SOOO WAY HOTTER THAN ORLANDO!!! :-P
I LOVED IT!!!!!!!! Orlando was sooooo sexy better then Johnny but thats just me i thought it was great it pissed me off when it ended like that and i love that will gets to met his dad ^_^ but yes I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!
I dont think that Elisabeth loves Jack secretly and she didnt leave him on the boat because she want to save her relationship between Wil and herself. Its because she didnt want to die or let the rest of his crew die because of him. She kissed him because hes never had love before and before he died she wanted to show him what its like and how great it is. It is going to be intresting in the 3rd movie because Wil saw them kiss and he might have thought it was real. I still wish that Elisabeth really did love Jack, but I dont think it can possibly be true. Natty
I LOVED the movie! However, that ending made me quite angry. How did Barbosa come back? The monkey, apparently, took a coin out of the chest, but I think it would be too difficult for barbosa to crawl back there after being shot unless the monkey gave a coin to Barbosa...do the coins affect the people that they are given to? Anywho...I find that love triangle a mystery. I think that Elizabeth does love will, but she finds jack's "edge" attractive.
well...like every other girl has pretty much said...i really only saw the show to gaze at the GORGEOUS johnny depp play an even MORE gorgeous captain jack! =) ahh..*sighs*...i would have been happy with 2 1/2 hours of just jack and elizabeth though...the love triangle is weird...but hott too...i'm not sure if elizabeth loves jack but i really hope so...since will is NOT my favorite character by any stretch. she kinda toyed with jack the whole ime...egging him on...he so clearly ended up wanting her and i know shes attracted to him...cause who wouldn't be...you know the whole "curiosity" scene...elizabeth goes "curiosity, you'll want to know what it tastes like...and jack says oh i want to know what it tastes like..."
then it was all interupted by that stupid debt! argh! but the special effects were great...to much action...not enough johnny....everyone wants jOHNNY FOR GODS SAKE THE DIRECTOR NEEDS TO DEF TAKE A HINT AND MAKE SURE THAT HAPPENS IN THE 3RD FILM!! comedy, and sexiness, will draw in the majority of the femaile population and girls are everywhere so thats the end of it.
i love jack ;) and i want elizabeth to fall for him and let will go save his father and move on
and commador norrington just needs to go away. nuff said

I really think liz should be with will.
I don´t think that jack is the ´´Love-person´´. He is more like the proud hero.
My opinion is that the nice thing about the 1 movie was to see will and jacks teamworking-thing but how is it gonna be now when will saw liz kissing jack.
Maybe she loves jack but I still think she loves will more and lets not forget that they liked eachother since they were kids.
anyway i think liz should end up with will!!!!!!!
I do hope Jack and Liz end up together, come on they are perfect for each other..
No doubt about that Liz wants Jack, its so obvious when they talk together, they flirts, look at them!!
Also when Jack and the others including Will, visits Tia Dalma, Jack mentions that his compass is broken(he got the compass from Tia), Tia says: "Oh Captain Jack, doens't know what he wants! Or maybe he, do but is affraid to claim it his own?"...
Jack wants Elizabeth but is affraid to claim her his own, because of Will... And Jack did purpose to Elizabeth on the Pearl.. Unfortunately she says no..
I look forward to the third film, and I can't wait, love those love triangles, very interresting:)
Jack and Elizabeth should be together, its gonna be one borring marriage if she marry Will.. Hes cute but, naaaaa..
i thought the movie was great too... and personally i hope and believe that elizabeth and will should end up together. nothing against jack but what he and elizabeth share is nothing but curiosity for one another and it is not true love like she shares with will. i was angry with the ending as well with barboso coming back especially and he says specifically in the first movie that only those who remove a coin from cortez' treasure shall endure the curse, because elizabeth had it for most of her life but never turned to a skeleton. i just dont want to have to wait an entire year for all of these questions to be answered!!!!
Okay, people, the love stuff between Jack and Elizabeth is just WRONG. Wrong, wrong, wrong!! It's like there was a completely different writer for this movie, Elizabeth's carachter did a complete 180 (does anyone remember her rowing in to save Jack, by herself, in the first movie?) she would have never either made out with him like a whore, nor would she have left him to die. What a load of crock.
I thought the 2nd movie of Pirates of the Carribbean was gr8!! Although I don't think it was better than the first one....................because it was something completely different and at tht time no-one knew what to expect...............and it was BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought number 2 was really funny, and it had me in stitches. I've been 2 see it twice and I only realised the second time i watched it tht when you first see the monkey it is still a skelenton................and when they give the monkey as a gift you can see Captain Barbosars boots in the back ground, which the monkey runs straight to as soon as he is let out of the cage. I thought the endin was brilliant, but it is soo annoyin tht we have to wait till next year for the 3rd movie.I CAN'T WAIT!! I don't think tht Elizabeth should get with Jack. She should stay with Will. And I still don't get why James Norrinton stole the heart 4 tht man........or why he wants it!! Gr8 film!!
Ok, i am a total fan of the potc (the first one) and i LOVED will and elizabeth! now that the second has come out, i love this one too. it was great until the ending! i was laughing all the time and jack sparrow was amazingly sexy! but after will has done all those things for elizabeth in the first and second movie and they have been so cute together (they loved eachother even as kids for goodness sakes,) i think will and liz have to be together. yes, i loved the curiosity scene (jack was amazingly hot there) and the kiss, but not at the expense of will. jack isnt the love and marriage type, hes the type that you have flings with. thats why i am hoping for will. i think hes sweet, and also really hot! (the scene where they rip off his shirt...mmmm!) maybe the movie makers will get it through their heads and make will a little more interesting by putting in some twists or unexpected actions of his...maybe something shocking he does that can somehow save the relationship. i dunno, i cant say too much, i read the first 50-soemthing pages of the 3rd script the other day and i think its gonna be awesome! Go Will!
OMG!!!!!!!!! I LOVE this movie.
i think it's great but the first one is a tiny bit better, more humor.
I LOVE the thing with jack and elizabeth,(even though i like the thought of jack single)
i think the reson JACK tied himself to the ship was, 1.He wanted to go down with he's ship and let will and elzabeth to their lives and 2. (the realastic one) Like the conversation elziabeth had with jack, (you want to taste being pirate/hero) it was true jack wanted to save ELIZABETH so he went back and then he didn't want to put the crew in danger, he would rather go down as a hero.
Bout that conversation, i LOVED it i wanted something to happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And also NOOOOOOO i HATE how jack dies, how could they do that???? wich means the 3rd movies prbably all about trying to get jack back witch means their won't be much of him in it witch means everyone will be upset.
And about barbossa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 OMG!!! what a cliffhanger ending I WANT TO SEE THE 3RD ONE!!!!
anywayz i LOVED it!!! byez! go jack!!!
also, one last thing, i think Natty has the whole Jack/Liz/Will thing down right, i dont want to see Jack and Liz end up together, but it may be something she just wanted to do also because of the whole "you want what you can't have thing"... anywho, right on, Natty
jack isnt dead, he cant because he is in the third movie... they are going to literally have to sail to the ends of the earth like they said they would to get him, but he is still alive, how do you think barbosa got back? Right on jack sparrow!
well, as for jack dying, hes definitely in the third movie, so im not quite sure. (SPOILERS AHEAD> DONT READ IF YOU DONT WANT IT GIVEN AWAY) i think hes stuck in purgatory or a form of it. hes int eh movie almost right away and they save him. but once they save jack, the movie semed far from over. ithink only part of hte movie focuses on getting him back. and he adn eleizabeth didnt seem to be on very good terms. will is all for getting his dad and possibly getting liz back, but it didnt give much of a clue as to which guy she ends up with. im totally lost. the third sounds good. i just hope it has a satisfying conclusion.
The movie was good,, not as good as the first one but
isnt that the same with every movie,,the first one is always the best??
anyway I loved the movie till Elizabeth Swan kissed Jack and than
left him there,, I mean who would leave Johnny Depp tied to a ship
to be killed?? I think Johhny depp is an amazing actor and hes
humorous too. and hes hot.. this movie was good and I hope
Jack is ok in the next movie but I hope Jack and Elizabeth dont fall
in love and stuff caz to me it would ruine the movies,
This POTC episode should be called The Seduction of Elizabeth Swan. This is not your traditional Disney Prince/Princess live-happily-ever-after movie. The 3rd Episode may as well be called "The Fulfillment of Elizabeth Swan", where she ends up fulfilling all her wild fantasies with the likes of Captain Sparrow (of course), Captain Barbossa, the new Commodore, and maybe even back to the old Commodore, while good boy Will Tanner is left out to dry. Ladies and Gents, seriously, POTC has always had some sort of Adult theme to it, that centers around E/Swan's dark passions. The first episode had her stuck in an island with Mr. Player himself, Jack Sparrow, certainly, great Pirates won't let such a good thing pass. This film should not be marketed under the Disney label, and is pretty darn close to an R rating; there's enough innuendos, gore, and violence to merit that. I look forward to a more steamy 3rd episode -- Keira Knightley perfectly fits the character.
I think that Jack and Elizabeth should end up together. There really the same. They both want freedom. Also the compass proves that they want eachother. In the first movie it seemed like Elizabeth should end up with Will, but now, I think Jack is best. And as for the Barbossa thing, I really found that as a surprise! I never would have thought that I'd see him again. I really liked the second movie and hope that the 3rd will be just as exciting..of course everyone knows it will be! I hope that the film writers keep making Pirates of the Carriebean! All the movies are awsome!
hiya pirates of the carriabean fans!!gem ere just wanted 2 say................................................HELLO PPL!!! I NO WE ALL LUV JOHNNY BUT HEY WOT BOUT ORLI BLOOM!!!!! HOW FIT OMG HEY????? just wanted 2 tell ya. it'd be gud 2 comment him once in a while!!!! mmmmmm mmmm mmmmmm cuz wen im a lookin im a lykin go pirates of da carriabean tho!!!cnt w8 till 3rd!!!!luv ya gem x
I think that Pirates Of the Caribbean Dead man's chest was better
than the first one but it ended to quickly 5 more hours would have been cooler.
Its Definantly funnier than Pirates of the Caribbean Curse of the Black Pearl
I lovce the first one personally. Because it really captured evrything of teh adventure. But Elizabeth cannot be with Jack...Jack is not the type of person that looks like he wants to be in love on teh land he is the one that looks liek he loves the Sea and Rum more than women. I just hope Elizabeth and Will get married. I truly hope you do that for teh movie. So yes i can say teh 2nd was eh...good i give it 3 stars first 4 stars. so yeah ELIZABETH AND WILL TURNER FOREVER...savvy?
I'm really interested in this series film. But i'm wondering the name of the beach used in this film, really cool and beautiful. If possible, could u guys plz tell me its name and I wanna know who is presented Depp's guitar?
i used the curiosity scene on this lad that was annyoying the hell out of me and now we're goin out
i said: yuo r going to stop getin on my nerves and u will leave me alone
he said:how, how do u know i'll leave
i said:it's curiosity, you'll want to knw what it tastes lyk u know u cant resist
Way to go sam143!!!!! I totally LOVE that scene!! I've seen it six times so far and after the sixth watching every thing FINALLY click in with the memorizing of scenes and all that!
//Because you and me are alike, and there will come a moment when you have the chance to show it. To do the right thing.//
//I love those moments. I like to wave at them as they pass by.//
//You could do something... courageous. And when you do you'll descover something. That you're a good man.//
//All evidence to the contrary//
//No I have faith in you... Want to know why?//
//Do tell deary//
//Curiosity. You're going to want it. The chance to be admired, and to gain the rewards that follow. You won't be able to resist. You're going to want to know what it tastes like...//
//I DO want to know what it tastes like...//
I LOVE THAT SCENE!!!!!!! I hope jack and elizabeth stay together but their relationship will never be like will + elizabeth. Love is something that jack has never really expereinced in-depth and he finds he really wants it.
There is only one thing jack wants most: Freedom. So when he looks into the compass he sees... freedom? He loves the black pearl because thats what it is. Freedom. At the end of the 2nd movie Jack has to abandon the Black Pearl because it no longer is freedom.
His love for freedom makes him a coward in some veiw but who could call Jack a coward? He's something unique entirly.
The 2nd movie is different because you see jack in a different way. Scared. In totall panic.
Think about it...
How can Barbossa be alive?! It will be intresting to find out in the third movie. I have notice the fact that the monkey took a coin from the chest, but even if he gave it to B, B wouldn't turn into a skeleton. You have to take the coin from the chest yorself to be a skeleton. Otherwise would Elisabeth be a skeleton becos of the coin she took from WIll in the beginning of the first film.
I´d love jack and elizabeth to be a couple as well. but concerning to the compass,
it DID show in elzabeths direction and also in jacks, but this was always the direction the chest was hidden...but there´s so much tension between the two, i truly love it! it´s so much better than will and elizabeth being a couple, but i don´t think disney would really realize that idea... unfortunaltely...although so many peolple love it.
The reason I watched POTC2 was because I was captured by captain jack in the first film. I really love Captain Jack Sparrow because he's something different that you can't always find in all movies. I like the curiosty scene AND the kissing scene very much :-) I luv Elizabeth n Jack to be together coz they have a kind of hot desire that they keep locked inside. That's got to come out, soon...I hope. Perhaps Will sort of given up hope when he said in the last part, "If there was something that could be done..." it's like he wants to help Elizabeth find her true feelings for herself... Personally, I think that Elizabeth doesn't love Will but she has had that mindset since years back so she's feeling herself committed to that. BUt when Jack turns up, she's worried and confused because she's starting to feel that Will might not be what she's really looking for. It's like in GONE WITH THE WIND when Scarlett was raving about Ashley Wilkes and she finally realised that she loves Rhett. It's like too late...I hope Elizabeth and Jack's not gonna be like that. But whatever happens in the third installment is bound to be for the best for all. :)
OMG,this movie rocks...i LOVE JONNY DEPP,he is the best actor ever, and is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You peoplemade the best movie ever,o and jack,he is perfect i have posters of him everywhere, and i wish i could marrie him!I cant wait till the 3rd movie comes out!!I watched all of them so far even though there is only 2.Ha Ha...you guys rox,o and tell jonny i love him!!!
First off let me just say i love the pirates movies! The more i watch them the more i pick up on all the little details that makes me love it even more! I love the love-story in the second movie because it changes things up, i mean its realistic that Elizabeth is confused about her heart, i think most people question their relationships at least once. Although i must admitt that i want Elizabeth and Will to end up together in the end i liked the whole Jack and Elizabeth fling. I think Elizabeth loves Will but has lust for Jack, two very different things! I think Elizabeth lusts after Jack because she and Will have'nt had any kind of physical relationship-except sword fight practice; and she is "bothered" by it. I think the kiss at the end of the movie symblizes "elizabeth slakes her lust, drowned her guilt, and save the man she loves." translation: she kisses Jack to slake her lust, litterally drowned jack and her guilt for feeling lust for somwone other than Will, and save Will because if she doesnt the Kraken will keep coming after them and put Will (and everyone else) in danger.
I am obsessed with these movies! and its not even the EXTEMLY HOT men in them (ORLANDO and Johnny) its that they are really good movies! i love the unpredictabilty and adventure and just every aspect of the movies! i know that there only making one more movie and i guess im just going to have to except that. Its really sad because the way hollywood is making movies is changing, everything is done in a studio and you just don't get that movie expierance you use to. Im just waiting for the next movie, i know it will be great! and to all you cridicts that gave pirates bad reviews-YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING!
i really hope their will be a 4th because they can't just leave will and elizabeth un done. it needed to end in a happy way she sholuld become a pirate!!
