I’m hoping Samuel L. Jackson’s presence in Jumper is enough to counteract Hayden Christensen playing the main character of the picture. I want Christensen to be good, but his recent performance in Awake didn’t give me much to build that desire from. Here’s hoping Hayden can be better in an action flick, where there’s less pressure on the actor to deliver a performance – after all, action flicks are typically about the special effects, right? That certainly appears to be the case with Jumper.
If you missed the teaser trailer, Jumper is about a kid who discovers he has the ability to teleport. As he utilizes his powers he draws the attention of another person with similar abilities, as well as an agency led by Jackson whose goal is to hunt down people with this teleporting ability. Apparently he gets involved with Rachel Bilson too. Man, people with teleporting powers get all the perks.
There’s now a more developed first trailer available for Jumper in Quicktime over at Apple trailers. This thing is going to be visually impressive and Doug Liman is a good name to have at the helm. After all, he made Mr. and Mrs. Smith enjoyable despite all the horrid jumps in logic. If he can do that with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, I again have hope for Hayden Christensen in this pic.
