After being thrust into the lime light with Ocean’s Thirteen, George Clooney is once against heading into the darkness of an indie picture called Leatherheads -- a fictional take on the origin of the NFL. It also happens to be a screwball comedy. Clooney will star as the wanna-be coach of a pro football team in the 1920s, with John Krasinski playing a recruited WW I vet and Renee Zellweger playing a journalist trying to expose the team as a fraud.
USA Today has just scored a new picture from the film, take a look to your right or click over there to see it in high-res.
Of course, no screwball comedy is complete without zany antics and a confusing love triangle, which will be provided by Zellweger, Krasinksi and Clooney. I’m fairly unimpressed, but perhaps this could be the sleeper chuckle of the holiday season. The film is scheduled to touchdown in theatres Dec. 7.
