Guy Ritchie has been on a roll for the last week. The early buzz about his new movie, Rocknrolla, has been overwhelmingly positive, and rumors have been flying all over the place about casting for his Sherlock Holmes movie. While Russell Crowe's participation is still just a rumor, ComingSoon.net got Ritchie to reveal that he's cast Mark Strong in another major role in the movie.
No, it's not Dr. Watson-- Ritchie says he and producer Joel Silver are still on the "Watson hunt." But Strong also had a role in Rocknrolla, which means Ritchie might be trying to give his friend another plum role. Ritchie also talked a little about his goals for the Holmes movie at a press conference, where he said "My job is to make what I deem to be a highly-entertaining contemporary and fresh feel to what is essentially an old and iconic character."
Ritchie's talents have been on and off over the years, but the word on Rocknrolla is that it's a return to form, which gives all the more reason to be excited about what he plans to do with Sherlock Holmes. Especially if they can confirm that tantalizing Russell Crowe rumor.
