Mirrors is shaping up to be one of the few potential hits coming out this August. Seriously, other than Pineapple Express and Tropic Thunder, and maybe also Death Race, do you know anyone excited about anything else? The promos for Mirrors up to this point have mostly focused on something mysterious and spooky, with Kiefer Sutherland playing a security guard in charge of watching a department store that burned down. There’s something weird going on with the mirrors, but what that was, exactly, was kept in the dark.
But now Fox has released a “thriller” trailer, apparently intended for the UK, that makes everything a lot clearer. It seems that people see their own reflections in the mirror and are driven crazy by them—that’s what happened to the guard who had the job before Kiefer did, at least. But the mirror phantoms aren’t happy to stay in the department store, and eventually start tormenting Kiefer’s family at home, including his son who’s convinced they just want to play. Yes, the trailer definitely gets a lot of mileage out of having the little boy move away from the mirror while his image stays put, watching his mother forebodingly.
I scare easily, but I think this trailer is spooky for horror veterans as well. Click on one of the many links below that will take you directly to where the trailer is hosted, and try not to give yourself the creeps.

That is the exact same trailer showing before the "X-Files" movie in California.
