I didn’t care much for The Strangers, Bryan Bertino’s directorial debut which depicted the events of an evening as a young couple is tormented by a group of strangers breaking into their house. Even though I didn’t think highly of the end product, I did commend some things about the movie in my review, which makes me think Bertino has some promise as a filmmaker.
Apparently Rogue Pictures also thinks Bertino has some potential, because they’ve signed the writer/director up for two more pictures, reports Variety. Although details are sparse, the two pictures are titled Black (a character driven thriller) and Alone.
Even though The Strangers practically begs for a follow up, a sequel to this year’s thriller isn’t part of the deal between Bertino and Rogue Pictures. I’d like to think that’s because one picture is enough. Most likely it’s because someone else will handle it or there will be a separate deal.
Expect to seen Bertino’s name quite a bit. Not only does he have this two picture deal with Rogue, but he’s also working on a thriller for Paramount, Green Eyes.
