It’s getting harder and harder not to be excited about Speed Racer. There’s a new trailer for the upcoming Wachowski film, and while it’s still as garishly colorful and intentionally cartoony as everything else we’ve seen from the film… holy hell it’s packed with exciting stuff. I defy anyone to watch it and not want to stand up in their seat and cheer a little bit. I don’t know what this movie is or what the hell the Wachowskis are up to, but this thing is either going to revolutionize everything we think about movies or it’s going to be a tremendous, blinding disaster. Having watched The Matrix over and over again until I actually start thinking I can bend spoons, I’m going to put my money on the former.
Speed Racer hits theaters May 8. Check out the movie’s brand new, full length trailer below:

No, this is a live action movie. The cartoon on which it is based is Anime... and it really sucks.
With the Matrix movies the Wachowski brothers definitely demonstrated an ability to squeeze whatever there might be in anime that's worth anything, dump the crap, and add their own style to it to come up with something good.
But even they had the good sense to stay away from trying to make something good out of Dragonball Z. Smart move Wachowskis.
Its funny that you loved the Matrix Trilogy (I did too) but at the same time you talk trash about anime and Dragonball Z, and the ironic thing is that the Wachowski Brothers were inspired by anime and especifically by DBZ.
