Writer/director Rian Johnson grabbed everyone's attention earlier this year with the very cool noir goes to high school movie Brick, and now he's already deep into planning his next movie, The Brothers Bloom.
The film is being described as an international con man adventure, and Production Weekly says Oscar winning actress Rachel Weisz is the first big name to join the movie's cast.
Rachel will play a mysterious millionaire named Penelope who out cons a veteran team of con men brothers, in the midst of one final job after their youngest brother threatens to quit the biz.
Johnson's first movie was an indie, and he plans to remain independent. After Brick studios came knocking, but Rian has turned them down in favor of doing The Brothers Bloom his way. At least now raising money for financing should become a lot easier.
So far, the movie's two male leads haven't been cast. Rachel Weisz is the only major role with an attachment. We'll let you know when Johnson finds the rest. For some reason there's a little voice in my head screaming "Owen Wilson". What do you think?
