Robert Downey Not A Lock For Iron Man 2

By Josh Tyler: 2008-05-08 01:37:57

Robert Downey Not A Lock For Iron Man 2 I’m not privy to all the behind the scenes deals in Hollywood and neither are you. However the general assumption everyone’s been working under over this past week was that Robert Downey Jr. is a lock to return as Tony Stark for Iron Man 2. Now though, it seems not so much.

HR reports that during a conference call announcing the company’s quarterly results, Marvel Studio executives were hesitant on the subject of Downey’s involvement in the sequel. Robert is under contract for two more movies, but apparently Marvel thinks they’re going to have to come up with even more money if they want him to honor the deal.

See, when you or I sign a contract, we are expected to uphold it. But that’s only because we aren’t rich and in demand. When you’re rich and in demand, the rules don’t really apply to you. Regardless, there’s every reason to believe Robert Downy Jr. will be back as Iron Man. Before it’s a sure thing though, it looks like Marvel is going to have to come up with more cash. Maybe Downey wants to actually start living like Tony Stark in addition to playing him. How much does it cost to put a stripper pole in your private jet?

Fuck Yeah!!!! get as much cash out of those bastards at Marvel as you can I say! These are the guys who made a fortune out of Jack Kirby and many other great Comic book artists and ripped them off left right and centre! Hardly paid them enough to live on, while Marvel reaped the benifits big time from all these insanely popular comic book characters.
So if Mr Downey wants more cash for the privilage his Great Talent and having to don what is probably a horrendously uncomforable Iron Man Suit
Marvel should be wise, stump up the cash and pay the man.
    Nuff said! True Believers.

  1. John L Says:

This would really be a shame if Downey is not back as Tony Stark. He fit the role really well and I really dont get why he (according to the report) all of a sudden needs more money to do a sequel or sequels. He should be grateful that this movie has in a sense refurbished a career that wasnt doing much.

  1. Electro Says:

Really? Shameful. If this is true I'll never see another R.D.j movie ever. . Biting the hand that feeds... INDEED! How positively extortionist of the little tramp.

  1. Jeff Says:

That's ridiculous, of course he'll be in the sequels and Marvel will pay whatever it has to in order to keep him. Robert Downey Jr was the whole reason the film is such a success. By time Iron Man is out on DVD, it will have made a billion dollars. I don't think Marvel will have any problem coughing up whatever money Downey asks for. Also, this is the biggest movie Downey has ever had, it would not make sense for him to walk away from a blockbuster franchise.

  1. Iron Girl Says:

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! How DARE you, Robert!!!! You need to play Iron man. If you dont, it will screw the seris!!! 'Nuff said.
