I’ve seen Cirque du Soleil on television, it was very pretty, and that was good enough for me. It’s not the sort of thing I’ve ever had any desire to see live, unless of course I can see it Apatow style and eat bags full of hallucinogenic mushrooms before going. I have however, allowed myself to be convinced to sit down and see it in a movie theater, so this weekend that’s exactly what my wife and I will be doing.
Sony Pictures is bringing Cirque du Soleil’s Delirium to movie theaters around the country this weekend. It’s all part of the new movement to use theaters not just for movies, but for other kinds of events as well. Not long ago for instance, I sat down at my local AMC with a large group of aging geeks for a special showing of the original Star Trek episode “The Cage”. It was a blast. Movie theaters are now showing concerts, the symphony, old TV shows, and all sorts of unusual offerings. Delirium, at least judging by the pictures Sony has just given us from it, looks to be one of the most colorful.
Check out what you’ll get if you buy a ticket to Delirium this weekend via the image gallery below. You’ll only be able to see it on August 20, 21, 23, and 24th so if you’re interested… start planning to buy a ticket. For tickets and locations check out Sony’s TheHotTicket.

Wasn't it "Knocked Up" where they went to see Cirque Du Soleil on 'shrooms?
Otherwise, I'm not sure how thrilled I am about this. It will probably be amazing, but some things just aren't comparable on screen...gotta see it in real life.
