Helen Hunt’s emaciated, directorial debut was at SXSW this week while I was there, and in case you missed the review get to clicking here. The movie is Then She Found Me, and now it has a trailer.
The trailer is pretty indicative of the film. It jumps all over the place, not because it’s a trailer, but because that’s what the movie does. It has its moments though, and the cast is great. Even though it has some flaws, I didn’t hate the film and I don’t hate the trailer either. It’s catering to a certain type of audience, the type of audience who shows up for movies distributed by, well, THINKFilm. I guess it’s lucky then they’re the ones that bought it.
Random side note: Am I the only one who had no idea that Helen Hunt was Jewish? Granted, just about everyone in Hollywood is, but when I looked at her I always thought: Finally, at least one actor who isn’t a Jew. Now she’s made a Jewy movie (her words, not mine)… because we just don’t have enough of those. Very underrepresented in American pop culture the Jews.
