Wayne Brady has decided to depart from the derivative nature of television, but he won't stray too far; his next move will be starring in a romantic comedy.
According to Variety, the former talkshow host will make his film debut in the narcissistically titled, I'm Perfect. In the movie he will play a hip young advertising executive named Lewis Bonds, fed up with the world of dating. His clever plan is to compile a list of traits that his ideal woman would possess, and then set out to find her. Good luck, Lewis. Everyone knows there is no such thing as a perfect woman. And if there were, she'd be dating some loser with a beer belly, not you.
The film will costar Sydney Tamiia Poitier, beloved daughter of the movie legend with the same name (spelled differently, but we caught on.) Also included in the cast are crass-talking Margaret Cho, and TV veteran Malcolm Jamal Warner. Wearing the director's cap will be Brandon Sonnier, whose debut effort The Beat made him the youngest director to compete in the Sundance Film Festival. Writer Marcus Folmar is a newbie.
Just what the world needs, another romantic comedy. I'm going to shake my magic 8-ball and predict that he finds the girl of his dreams at the very end, and she doesn't exactly embody what he wrote on the list. Aw, how sweet. Now excuse me while I continue boycotting this horrid genre.
