Movie studios finally updated their New Year's Day holiday box office estimates this evening with the numbers showing no real surprises. While New Year's Eve is traditionally a quieter night at theaters, the first day of the new year usually shows a small jump in cash and 2008 is no different. The only noteworthy change was the jump Water Horse: Legend of the Deep took, taking over Alien vs. Predator - Requiem's sixth place spot.
