Is there anything Will Ferrell can't do? Now he's playing basketball. Ok, he's probably not going to play it very well. Michael Jordon is great, but he's not very funny.
The Hollywood Reporter says New Line has hired Will to star in a new basketball comedy called Semi-Pro. The movie is set in the early days of the sport, with Will as an owner-player-coach named Jackie Moon, dribbling in the long vanished world of the American Basketball Association (ABA). Jackie must lead his team on a desperate charge to make it into the big leagues.

The film is being written by Scot Armstrong, who also wrote Starsky & Hutch and School for Scoundrels. A New Line executive named Ken Alterman will make his directorial debut heling it.
Aside from being a great opportunity to get Will Ferrell in a pair of striped knee-socks and an Afro, with Armstrong scripting the movie could actually be funny. When was the last time we had a good basketball comedy? If you just said Juwanna Mann, then get off my site.
