X-Files Comic Goes Back To Original Series

X-Files Comic Goes Back To Original Series I got in trouble with commenters a few days ago when I said no one I knew was excited about the X-Files movie coming out July 25, so I won't address that here. But, as little as I know about the new movie, I know it takes place after the end of the series, and won't address the larger mythology of the show. So for anyone who is disappointed that it won't be a visit back to Mulder and Scully's glory days, a new graphic novel series is ready to take you back to the late 90s. You know, graphic novels-- the preferred medium for the kinds of geeks who watch The X-Files to begin with! I kid, kid.

Entertainment Weekly has the first look at a few pages from Frank Spotnitz's graphic novel The X-Files #0, which is intended to be the first of several comic miniseries set during seasons two and five of the TV show. Spotnitz was a co-producer and co-writer of the show, so it's not like we've got some young stranger taking over these beloved characters. The first installment is set in season five, when Scully is battling cancer while Mulder is on the lam. Oh yeah, and there are aliens involved somewhere.

The story told in the pages shown at Entertainment Weekly is pretty much like the first two minutes of an episode, but we do see our heroes at the very end. And since The X-Files: I Want To Believe is the most important movie coming out this summer and all, surely this is a big deal. See, X-Files fans, I'm learning!

This comic looks amazing and I'm not even into them! Brian Denham's illustrations are incredible. They've really got the whole ethos of the show down to a T and the only downside about it is the fact that it makes me yearn for it to be back on TV. Can't wait for it to come out, only slightly less than I can't for the movie. Which I might die of excitement over, especially in light of the spoilers now!!!!Aieeeeeeee!!!
    Roll on July 25th!!!!
