Liberty City Vs New York City: A Photo Comparison

How close to NYC does Liberty City actually look? For those of us who have lived and worked in the city there are constant reminders. Little touches that make you stop and say, “Wait a second.” Sure, there are many aspects of the city that have been altered. But overall it’s the best replica of NYC in a video game to date.
A Flickr user has put together a gallery showing the similarities between the game and real life. It’s really quite amazing how accurate the team at Rockstar decided to make Liberty City. And while there are rules about not being able to destroy landmark buildings in games, the simple changing of names and tweaking the city enough to be completely fictional is a remarkable achievement. The city itself lives and breathes, becoming a character all its own. Take a look at the gallery of comparison shots to see just how close Liberty City is to NYC.
