Living in an apartment I know that I am often lazy when it comes to my cables. I can’t rip out walls or tear up the carpets to run speaker and Ethernet wires too and fro. So I resign myself to having an Ethernet cable run from the router in the office to my entertainment center where I can hook up my PS3, 360 or any other internet ready device. It’s an unsightly mess, and when the living room was rearranged I never bothered to set up my rear surround sound speakers. Shame on me.
OWLink has a solution for me, and those of you looking to hide your wiring entanglements. The company offers a nearly invisible fiber optic cable that measures 9 millimeters in diameter with a clear covering. Essentially you have to look closely just to notice the cable, and if you tuck it away somewhere it’d be nearly impossible to spot.
This is indeed a fantastic solution, until you hit the price. The TV kit will run you $600, while the PC version is $800. Look, I’d like to hide my wires as much as the next guy but I think I’ll stick with my current mess. Besides, I could rip up the carpets and pay less money when I move out than pilfering cash from more important things (like beer money) to class up my livingroom.
