Just when I thought April couldn’t have any worse holiday after the embarrassment that is April Fools, along comes Earth Day to mess up the party. I’m all for doing my part for mother earth, but this is really just a day for tree huggers to try and collectively make us feel bad for walking a half block to get a case of beer instead of walking. Still, that doesn’t stop what Sungevity, a new startup, is doing from being pretty awesome.
Starting on Earth Day the company will launch a web app that zooms in on your house roof with a satellite, measures the dimensions and tells you what solar array would be perfect for you. A team of installers are dispatched, and all proper paperwork for keeping within local code is sent as well. A very convenient way to get in on the solar action. Aside from the case, the hassle of figuring out how to do this is a huge deterrent.
You’ll be able to test out Sungevity’s service this Tuesday.
