When you look at people like Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Ryan gosling, Kerry Russell and JC Chesez, all of whom were discovered when they were kids by casting director Matt Casella, it could be very easy to forget that there were thousands of other kids out there who also tried to get discovered and their dreams went unfulfilled. Next week, ABC’s going to air a special that follows five of those undiscovered kids who went on to grow up and live regular lives.
In Rediscovered, which is hosted by Donnie and Marie, the special will surprise five people with a second chance to show the world what they can do. "This show is about making childhood dreams come true," says executive producer Dave Broome. "What makes this show so different is that, unlike other competition shows, none of our contestants applied. We tracked them down, surprised them, and plucked them from their daily lives for this once in a lifetime chance."
In addition to getting to see the contestants take the stage and perform, the special will also feature their original audition tapes and give us a glimpse into the life they’ve lived in the 20 years or so that have passed since they submitted those tapes. We’ll also get to see some never-before-seen audition footage from the people who did get discovered (Spears, Timberlake, Gosling, Jessica Simpson, etc).
Rediscovered will air on Tuesday, December 23rd 9/8c on ABC.
